Need new socks

There is a distinct lack of handknit socks chez moi due to the fact that I have a couple of pairs that needed darning. Now normally the darning in this family goes to my Dad to do but he was a little grumpy so I decided to have a go.

When I dug out the matching yarn I realised how faded my socks are, they are about 4 years old and have been worn lots. The darning is not perfect but not too bad for a first attempt, now to see if they hold up to some more wearing.

My next pair for me will be a pair of Doctor Fosters by the very talented Rachel in some pretty tweedy yarn by the lovely Skein Queen. But first I have to finish up a pair of IOU socks for my brother before he nags me some more 🙂

Still cold

Its still cold but the sun is shining and there is no snow.
Today there are mini victoria sandwiches in the café, some sewing going on and I will be trying to finish up a project so I can cast on something new.
There is a new bag in the shop and a couple of others nearly done, I have been sewing with some lovely embroidery silk hand-dyed by Natalie at the Yarnyard, its gorgeous stuff.

Brrrrrr

Freezing cold here this morning, a little snow on the ground, perfect knitting weather. I knitted a pair of these mitts yesterday, its a little chilly in my new house. I have also cast on the IOU a pair of xmas sock for Jamie, they are Porlock socks by the very talented Jen in Natalies Toddy yarn in Ruck and Maul.

No snow day

No snow here in sunny Irvine but it is freezing, perfect day for some knitting and a cuppa, the café is open at 12.30 and we have fruit tea bread to have with your cuppa, see you all later.

This weeks sewing included these coats for this cheeky pair to keep them warm in this freezing weather.
